Local Ordinances

In addition to statewide legislative initiatives, the III FFC encourages communities to adopt ordinances to support and promote fair contracting at the local level.  For example, various Illinois communities recently requested a draft ordinance to expand coverage of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act to include coverage of projects located in an Enterprise Zone or Economic Development Project Area (i.e. TIF districts).

In Indiana, communities intend to address employee misclassification at the local level through ordinances prohibiting the misclassification of employees as independent contractors in the construction industry.
